TOP 100 ranking calculation formula.
The top 100 ranking, is calculated from the top 10 results of each rider. all categories of racing are considered to make the ranking. (long, tec and sprint)
Categorization of an event
The SWRanking is combined of 4 components
- Number of participants
- Prize money *
- Number of top ranked participants
- Number of participating nations
* prize money currency is euro €
The ratio of maximal points that can be gathered is : 30-15-30-25%
With every component there is a minimum number of points the race gets, and a maximum limit.
These are as follows:
Component | % | Min | Max |
Number of participant | 30 | 2 | 6 |
Prize money | 15 | 0 | 3 |
Number of TOP ranked participants | 30 | 1.5 | 6 |
Number of participating nations | 25 | 1.5 | 5 |
This means that every race that counts towards the rankings gets at least 5 but not more than 20 points
Based on these informations we automatically rank the strength of an event.
The final categorization happens every time after the race, when the details of the race are known exactly, not before!
Calculation of points
We rank only the 14′ foot, hard board category and only the top 20 male and top 10 female.

Example
Suppose there were 300 participants in a race, the prize money was €6,000, 15 nations were represented, and the top men’s competitors were ranked 1st, 3rd, 7th, 8th, 11th and 17th in last year’s world rankings, while the women’s competitors were ranked 2nd, 5th and 9th.
Applying the formula to the 300 participants, the competition will receive 6 points.
Applying the formula to the 6,000 euros gives the competition 2.32 points for the prize money.
Applying the formula to the 15 nations gives the competition 3 points.
Finally, the total based on the participation of the top competitors is 18+12+8+8+6+2 for men, 14+10+6 for women. This gives a total of 84 points, so this component adds 3 points to the total.
The score for the competition is 6+2.32+3+3+=14.32
Based on these scores, this competition receives a rating of 4 stars.
Example
Consider the race in the previous example, which had a value of 14.32.
If a man came 4th in this competition, he would receive 14.32 X 27=386.64 points. If a woman wins the same competition, she will receive 14.32 X 25=358 points.
Ranking score
The sum of the points achieved by the competitor in the competitions in the given year.
In other words, the points from each competition count, and those who take part in more competitions have a better chance of scoring more points. Every year the leader board starts again, so at the beginning of the year everyone has 0 points.
